Description

This route is partly about the separation between Tytsjerksteradiel and Achtkarspelen; the Muntsegroppe. Near Harkema, this dirt road is lined with a series of workers' houses built in 1919 on spacious plots. They have the character of a small farm because the hoods extend behind the front house and form a shed for small livestock or agricultural products. In the largely cultivated area, which also includes pieces of heathland, the houses form a neat whole that makes clear how this area was cultivated at the beginning of the 20th century.
Further south, near the Betonwei, there are still two of the total of 22 small reclamation farms built by the housing association in 1912. They were the reason for the foundation of the Spitkeet theme park, where living and working on the heath is shown with, among other things, a sod hut.
