Jacob van Lennep route, Part 26 (Deventer - Lochem)

Palace Het Loo
Saturday July 26. A friendly tax collector takes Van Lennep and Van Hogendorp in his carriage to the inn at Paleis Het Loo. The route is pleasant, also because it runs on a paved road. After emptying a bottle of Madeira together, the men walk to the pleasure castle, the former summer residence of the Dutch governors and kings. During their viewing they praise the rooms, especially the queen's bedroom. After the visit they had lunch with a wine that"(...) got better with each bottle. When we went back, we slept in the carriage\\\".

Ampsen estate
On Sunday, July 27, hikers will visit the Ampsen estate, which still exists today."From the back of the house, one looks out over vast cornfields, between which there are heavy oak trees, all the way to the charming Lochem\\\," writes Van Lennep. They do not visit the then resident, the politician Chretien Jacques Adrien baron of Nagell.
