Tour of historic Huissen

This walking route through historic Huissen starts at Camping de Waay.  In the center of this town you will find, among other things, the Hof van Hessen city museum, the horticultural museum De Hofstèèj and beautiful old buildings. In the town you will pass M16: Historic Houses of Exciting History. Huissen is a fully-fledged city with city rights and a glorious history. It was besieged by the duke of Guelders on June 26, 1502: a battle that was won by the people of Huissen. Huissen has been inhabited since Roman times. Huissen was in the hands of the Duke of Cleves, as an advanced post in Gelderland territory. During the Battle of Arnhem, the city was heavily bombed.
