Through the woods from Zonnebeke

The Zonnebeke Castle Domain and its surroundings are perfect for a nice bike ride. This route takes you from Zonnebeke through beautiful quiet nature reserves. Several of these areas were the setting for battlefields during the First World War. Take the time to reflect on this route.

The Zonnebeke Tourism information point is located in the Castle Building in the Zonnebeke Castle Domain. From here you set off to various forest areas such as the Gasthuisbossen. The area has seven forests and around the area you will find even more forests such as the Polygoonbos. Enjoy the peace and all the greenery around you here. You then continue cycling through the West Flemish interior. You will visit various places such as Hollebeke, Zandvoorde, Kruiseke and Beselare. The latter municipality is known for its witch legends. The many stories used to be written down by folk writers from Beselare. Nowadays the'Witches Procession\\\' still takes place here on the last Sunday of July (odd years). Special to see!
