Description

The LF Cycling Club also wants to contribute to drawing more attention to the Border Route (Death Wire from 14-18). Especially now that there is also an exhibition in the Achelse Kluis about the major explosion of the German ammunition trains at Hamont station in 1918. According to the ED, almost 30 municipalities are participating in this commemoration of the 350 km long electric border barrier in those years. The leader of a white crocus route to commemorate the death thread is the municipality of Maasmechelen, which has planted no fewer than 35,000 crocuses. Close to the start in Vaals there is still a piece of original barbed wire from 1915 . Near Teuven, at the highest point on the Kasteelstraat, there is a monument in memory of 14 -18, just like almost every church in the Voer region. You regularly come across the border posts, just like for the ferry in Eysden.
