Louisa Eva Cohen was born in Middelburg on October 1, 1872. Her father 1s butcher by trade. She is the ninth child of the thirteen children of Joseph and Eva Cohen. On October 18, 1926, Louisa moves from Amsterdam to Eindhoven. Until after the outbreak of the war, she lived as the housekeeper of the widower Hartog Andries Groenewoudt on the Emmasingel. In 1942 she lives in the retirement home 'Home for Israelite Old People' on the Markt 5 in Arnhem. On December 10, 1942, Louisa, along with 74 other elderly people, is taken from the home to Westerbork. The retirement home is closed. On February 9, 1943, Louisa Eva Cohen is deported to Auschwitz. She was murdered there immediately upon arrival, on February 12, 1943. Hartog Andries Groenewoudt was born on April 5, 1865 in Aarle-Rixtel. He is a vleeshouwer by trade and ritual slaughterer for the Jewish community in Eindhoven. Hartog is Orthodox Jewish and always sits in the second row in the synagogue in Kerkstraat during services. Hartog has a kosher butcher shop on the Demer. In 1894 he married Kaatje Hijmans, with whom he has three children. Kaatje died in 1926. In 1942 Hartog lives with his daughter Sara Hes-Groenewoudt in Zaltbommel. In the evening of November 18, 1942, the Hes-Groenewoudt family must report to the Nutsgebouw in Zaltbommel. Early the next morning they are taken by train to Westerbork. Hartog Andries Groenewoudt is deported from Westerbork to Auschwitz on 24 November 1942. He was murdered there on arrival on 27 November 1942.
