Tourist landmark

Kursaal Oostende

This building dominates the view of the Albert I promenade. The casino, designed by Leon Stynen (1953), is located on the site where the first casino was founded in 1875. This casino was razed to the ground during WWII. After the war, it would take another eight years before the current Casino was established. The remarkably large building is considered to be the largest casino in our country and is a typical example of modernism. The eye-catcher is of course the playroom with the murals by Paul Delvaux. On December 17, 2004, the renovated Kursaal Oostende was reopened.
