Monument Executies Nijemirdum

Here on April 6, 1945, five members of the resistance were shot by the Germans. This place was in a remote location, on the Zandvoorderhoek near the IJsselmeer. Nothing was known until October 18, 1946, when one of the firing squad men pointed to the site where they had been shot and buried. The war memorial is on private land, but it is allowed to visit.
