De Valk is the flour mill of Zalk. The mill was built in 1860 and has been the property of the van Beekhuizen family for many years. Today the mill is owned by the municipality of Kampen. Rumor has it that the mill used to be not only a flour mill, but also an oil mill. According to others, the mill served as a hulling mill. In the grinding loft you will find a lowered alloy beam and a separate beam layer, so it is most likely that the mill was indeed a hulling mill. A major restoration in 1982 made the mill turnable again, after the mill had hardly been operated for 35 years. Today the mill is an instruction mill. This means that voluntary millers are trained here. These millers can then help keep mills running throughout the province. The mill is open to the public every Saturday from October to May between 09:00 and 12:00. During the rest of the year you can visit the mill by appointment.
