Walking through 's Gravenmoer

This walk takes you through the small Brabant village of's Gravenmoer. After waking up wonderfully rested in the Hotel Hof van's Gravenmoer, it is wonderful to explore the area with this short walking route.

Tour of Gravenmoer
From the starting point you walk through the polder towards the Vaartweg, where you can admire beautiful old farms. The Vaartweg runs into the Waspikseweg and via the polder you walk towards the Donge stream.

Along the Donge
You walk along the Donge in a wonderfully relaxed way. This is a typical lowland stream: a stream without a clear source, but created by groundwater and rainwater from a larger area gradually clustering into a stream. With the stream on your right, you walk south.

History of's Gravenmoer
The name of the village is derived from moer, a peat area that was owned by the Count of Holland.'s Gravenmoer was first mentioned in 1293. The village originated as a peat colony and originally belonged to the County of Holland, which owned part of the area south of the Maas. From the beginning, the village was a shipping place where peat, straw and brushwood were traded. In 1950, the harbour was filled in and shipping came to an end.
