Wonderful meandering along the water of the Mark en Aa or Weerijs in the far south of Brabant. You also dive into Belgium for a moment. On the way back you will pass another beautiful nature reserve: Pannenhoef.
Aa or Weerijs
Here you will find a varied landscape of fields, grasslands, tree nurseries and small forest plots. You will also see some beautiful old farms. You follow the Aa or Weerijs to the south, a stream that originates in Belgium and continues into the canals of Breda. Via Meer you drive east, to another beautiful stream valley: the Markdal.
Pannenhoef
At the Dutch border you turn west again, towards Rijsbergen. Nearby you enter the Pannenhoef nature reserve. Centuries ago, the Pannenhoef looked like the Peel in the east of Brabant. From the fourteenth to the seventeenth century, peat was extensively extracted here. Now there is a beautiful nature reserve of forests, fens and flowery meadows. You cycle back to square one via Zundert (Vincent van Gogh's birthplace, with a nice museum).
