round Haaksbergen Buurserzand, white peat, Haaksbergerveen, Oostendorper watermill

Beautiful route through Twente through the neighboring sand and past two peat areas. As you drive through the white peat, you will pass beautiful places to take a break. The cycle path makes a sharp turn to the left here. To your right is a peat pond. If you are lucky you will see the Scottish highlanders grazing and standing in the lake. Places to have a cup of coffee or lunch are the Haarmühle in Ahaus and the Oostendorper watermill. For the Haarmühle you have to turn left at junction 81 instead of right. Just over the border in Germany turn right to Ahaus. It is advisable to return the same way to junction 81 and continue the route from there. Past the Haaksbergerveen there is a nice long straight cycle path along a dirt road through the forest. A little further on you will pass the Oostendorper watermill. The mill itself is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Next to the mill there is a restaurant where you can sit on the terrace. In Haaksbergen you end the cycle route at the market. There are several restaurants in Haaksbergen where you can enjoy a (good) meal in the evening.
