The village of Onstwedde
Onstwedde is a village with two essen and two greens. The village has a long history; it was first mentioned in the year 875. The village is located on the Mussel-Aa stream. The region is characterized by the characteristic hoof landscape, which is being reconstructed by Staatsbosbeheer. The area is characterized by river dunes, small woods and hedgerows, ash and low-lying land. A beautiful area for walking.

Wooded area

Many remnants of esdorp landscape and hoof landscape can be found along the stream. The stream valley has been completely restored to its former glory in the last few years. On both sides of the stream are varied forests that are more than a thousand years old.
