A tour of Maasbracht and the woods of Montfort

Get to know the surroundings of Maasbracht and walk through the woods of Montfort. A nice walk to get to know this area in Central Limburg better, no matter what time of year you walk this route!

Port of Maasbracht
Maasbracht is the home port for commercial shipping, one of the largest inland shipping ports in the Netherlands is located here. Maasbracht is also home to one of the largest power plants in the Netherlands, De Clauscentrale. From the harbor you walk north towards the industrial port of Maasbracht. You continue the route to Brachterbeek.

Brachterbeek
Then you walk a short distance through Brachterbeek. This village is located on the middle terrace of the Meuse. Archaeological research has shown that Brachterbeek was already inhabited in the Iron Age. Then you head south: towards Montfort and the woods through which you will walk.

Rozendaal estate
Rozendaal Estate is located between Montfort and Sint Joost. Rozendaal includes the Rozendaal and Schrevenhof estates and plots in Reigersbroek. Together they form a complete stream valley landscape with low-lying grassland bordered by forest on shifting sand ridges. It is a beautiful, varied area of forest and open landscape. Throughout the year it is absolutely worth walking this walking route.
