Walking through the Groote Scheere estate

In Salland in Overijssel you can enjoy a lovely walk through the Groote Scheere estate. You will find a lot of authentic natural beauty there, and the estate also exudes a rich history.

At Landgoed Groote Scheere you walk through an environment of thatched farms with characteristic red-yellow shutters and a varied nature with hedgerows, fields, canals and coppice forests. It is wonderfully quiet here, ideal for relaxing and catching up with your fellow hikers.

Battle
Just past the hamlet of Holthone you pass the centuries-old Holthoner ash tree. Some sandy paths have been here for centuries. For centuries, the estate was on one of the few accessible routes to the north of the Netherlands. Many battles were fought here. Such as the Battle of Ane, where Drenthe farmers defeated the army of the bishop of Utrecht. The route ends at De Ganzenhoeve Pancake Farm, time for a coffee!
