Tour of Betuwe: from Zoelen to Mariënwaerdt

Via the canal you can enjoy a relaxing ride along the water towards Wijk bij Duurstede, at the junction of the Neder-Rijn and the Lek. This town has a long history. It was one of the most important, successful trading places in Northwestern Europe from the 7th to the 9th centuries. From Beusichem you drive into De Regulieren, a beautiful nature reserve in the river area near Culemborg. The area is rich in insects, amphibians, small mammals and meadow birds. Then you cycle through the Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt Estate, known for its monumental buildings and special views. You return to your starting point via Geldermalsen.
