Description
From Riel you can easily walk onto the Regte Heide. A beautiful nature reserve where you can enjoy walking through forest and heath.
Riel
From Den Overkant you first walk through the charming village of Riel. You will pass, among others, the St. Anthony Abbot Church. The current building dates from 1895, although the history of this church dates back to 1444. The adjacent parsonage is a monument from 1874. Just before junction 33 you cross the Oude Leije stream: a beautiful spot. You walk across the Rielsedijk under the canopy of old deciduous trees.
Heather
Then you walk on an unpaved path through part of the Regte Heide. You enjoy the fresh forest air, and on the right you have beautiful views over some meadows. At junction 29 you have a beautiful view over the large heathland that extends south of you. Here you feel very far away from civilization. A nice place to taste the silence. You walk back to Riel through the forest.
