Description
From Riel you can walk straight onto the Regte Heide. A beautiful nature reserve where you can enjoy walking through forest and heathland.
Riel
From Den Overkant you first walk through the charming village of Riel. You pass the Sint Antonius Abt church, among other things. The current building dates from 1895, although the history of this church goes back to 1444. The adjacent rectory is a monument from 1874. Just before junction 33 you cross the stream the Oude Leije: a beautiful spot. Under the canopy of old deciduous trees you walk over the Rielsedijk.
Heather
Then you walk on an unpaved path through a part of the Regte Heide. You enjoy the fresh forest air, on the right you have beautiful views over some meadows. At junction 29 you have a beautiful view over the large heathland that stretches out to the south of you. You imagine yourself here very far away from the inhabited world. A beautiful place to taste the silence. Through the forest you walk back to Riel.
