The versatile nature on Schouwen-Duiveland

On Schouwen-Duiveland, natural beauty, tranquility, and charming old villages go hand in hand. This route takes you through Brouwershaven and Burgh, among other places.

Eastern Scheldt
From the starting point, you first ride into Brouwershaven, a gem on the Grevelingenmeer. The old town center within the former ramparts enjoys protected cityscape status. Take a moment to slow down and enjoy the unique historical atmosphere. Next, you cycle along quiet paths and lanes through the vast polders. On the banks of the Oosterschelde, you can enjoy the fresh air and clear your head. You have a beautiful view from the Plompetoren.

Burgh
A little later, you enter the Westerschouwen Forest Reserve, the largest forest in Zeeland. This forest was planted at the beginning of the twentieth century as part of a job creation scheme. In Burgh, you pass, among other things, a partial replica of the former ring fort that was erected in the ninth century to defend against marauding Vikings.
