The versatile nature on Schouwen-Duiveland

On Schouwen-Duiveland, natural beauty, tranquility and beautiful old towns go hand in hand. This route takes you through Brouwershaven and Burgh, among others.

Oosterschelde
From the starting point you first enter Brouwershaven, a gem on the Grevelingenmeer. The old city center within the former fortress walls enjoys a protected cityscape. Switch back for a moment to enjoy the unique historic atmosphere. Then you cycle along quiet paths and roads through the vast polders. On the banks of the Oosterschelde you can get a breath of fresh air and clear your head. You have a beautiful view from the Plompetoren.

Burgh
A little later you enter Boswachterij Westerschouwen, the largest forest in Zeeland. This forest was planted at the beginning of the twentieth century as part of job creation. In Burgh you will pass, among other things, a partial replica of the former ring rampart that was erected in the ninth century against plundering Normans.
