Grand tour de Hamert

In Maasduinen National Park it is wonderful to walk. With this route over Landgoed de Hamert and the Wellse Heide you can enjoy nature and tranquility all day long.

Looierheide
After a coffee with something delicious at Pannenkoekenhuis Jachthut op den Hamer, you will be the first to walk through the beautiful marsh forests along the Gelderns-Nierskanaal. This winding watercourse has an un-Dutch strong slope. It was created around 1770, it is not clear whether nature or man is responsible for it. You walk a long way across the Looierheide. A step back in time, especially when you come across the herd of Kempian heath sheep that graze here.

Wellse Heide
The Wellse Heide is located on a river dune belt. You mainly walk past Scots pines that have been planted for the production of mining wood. In Wellerlooi it's time for a refreshing pit stop. You are very welcome at Eetcafé Het Centrum for a delicious meal. You then walk a long way along the banks of the Maas, looking out over flowery grasslands and rippling water. Finally, you cross the Looierheide one more time. To enjoy!
