Cycling route through the Kempen

This long cycling route of over 74 kilometers takes you through the Brabantse Kempen. A beautiful nature reserve that is perfect to explore by bike.

Cycling through the Kempen
The route starts at Regional Restaurant De Hofkaemer in Bergeijk. Via Loo you cycle straight into De Kempen Border Park, on your way to the Goorken Nature Reserve. Then you arrive at De Kempen, a wooded nature reserve of over 2,000 hectares on the Dutch-Belgian border. The Kempen has a rich history. Napoleon left his mark on the Cartier Heath. The forests were the habitat of smugglers and peddlers walked the sandy paths with their merchandise. Now you can enjoy cycling through the forest and along winding streams.

Bergeijk
The route starts and ends in Bergeijk. Bergeijk is surrounded by forests, interspersed with fields. The area is noticeably green and that makes this a wonderful route for cycling. The area in which modern-day Bergeijk is located has been inhabited since the Stone Age, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds.

To rest
After this long cycling route, it is wonderful to sit down at Regional Restaurant De Hofkaemer in Bergeijk. The restaurant is known for its regional culinary treats from the Burgundian Kempen. Here we work in a contemporary way with regional products, preferably from the season. Asparagus, strawberries and game are always on the menu here when the time is right. This is really a place to keep coming back, also because of the menu that changes every three months.
