Description
The route starts at Regional Restaurant De Hofkaemer in Bergeijk. Via Loo you cycle straight into De Kempen Border Park, on your way to the Goorken Nature Reserve. Then you arrive at De Kempen, a wooded nature reserve of over 2,000 hectares on the Dutch-Belgian border. The Kempen has a rich history. Napoleon left his mark on the Cartier Heath. The forests were the territory of smugglers and peddlers walked the sandy paths with their merchandise. Now you can enjoy cycling through the forest and along winding streams. The route starts and ends in Bergeijk. Bergeijk is surrounded by forests, interspersed with fields. A lovely green area, perfect for a bike ride. The area in which modern-day Bergeijk is located has been inhabited since the Stone Age, as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds.
