Walking through Arcen and the woods

There is plenty of cultural history to discover in Arcen. To the east of this Limburg town you walk through the forests of the Leermarkse Heide. This route starts at De Maasparel - Hotel & Restaurant. After the farmland around the old hamlet of Veld you walk through the forests of the Leermarkse Heide. The route then takes you on an unpaved path out of Arcen along the bank of the Maas. You have a beautiful view of the rippling water and the farmlands on the other side. What a nice, peaceful walk here! In Arcen itself it is nice to walk through old, narrow streets. You will see some beautiful old houses, and you will also pass the ruins of the Schanstoren: a fifteenth-century remnant of the former fortifications of Arcen.
