From the starting point you walk down into the Gulpdal. Gulpen is known for its striking church tower, which once housed the Sint-Petruskerk. You can have a nice drink on a terrace right on the Gulp, on the Markt. Via the 160-metre-high Dolsberg you walk to Wijlre, along one of the beautiful hillside forests that South Limburg is known for. In Wijlre you pass Presseux or Kasteel Wijlre, built around 1625. In the village of Wijlre you can have a drink on a terrace at the cosy Brasserie Amuseer. Also a nice place for lunch! Take the time to look around Wijlre, where you will also find the Sint-Gertrudiskerk from 1839 and the Brandbrouwerij, the oldest in the Netherlands. In Wittem you will pass the Klooster Redemptoristen from 1733. There is no shortage of history with this beautiful route!
