Cottessen Reserve
Southeast of Epen there is a beautiful nature reserve for walking: the Cottessen reserve. The area consists of a half-timbered farm with outbuildings and grasslands, located on a slope between the Belgian border and the Vijlenerbos. The area around Cottessen is ideally suited for walking. This part used to be a poor region in Limburg and as a result the old half-timbered houses have still been maintained. You will also walk past this during the route. Cottessen has 11 national monuments, all of which are half-timbered farms.

Back in time
Time seems to have stood still here. What a special environment to walk around in! The steep hills made this area difficult to access for agriculture and as a result many sunken roads and spring areas have been preserved. The landscape of South Limburg is unique to the Netherlands.
