Boxtel is easy to explore on foot. You will find plenty of beautiful old buildings and a nice atmosphere. You will also pass Stapelen Castle.
Basilica
First you walk along the edge of Boxtel. Here you look out over reed beds, the rippling water of the meandering Dommel and grasslands. In the heart of Boxtel you pass the St. Peter's Basilica which originally dates from the thirteenth century. Museum De Canonye is located in a charming house from the mid-seventeenth century. Here you learn about Canons and their way of life.
Stacking Castle
After crossing the water, you will see a monumental factory chimney from 1852 at the Drossaard. The white former factory building dates from 1850. Just past junction 4 you will pass the Heilig Hart van Jezuskerk from 1901. Stapelen Castle has a history that dates back to 1293. In the nineteenth century, the castle was extensively renovated. Since 1915, the castle has been used as a monastery by the Assumptionists.
