Beesd is a beautiful picturesque town with historical sights. Come and experience the atmosphere and enjoy the view over the Linge from the dike!
Saint Peter's Church
Nearby you will find the town of Beesd, which you will walk through today. In this picturesque village you can see a special church tower: the unfinished sixteenth-century tower of St. Peter's Church. The tower used to be used as a refuge when the Linge overflowed its banks.
The Linge
You walk past De Vrijheid, an eighteenth-century corn mill, to the Linge. This is one of the longest rivers that originate in the Netherlands. The Linge still meanders around Beesd in the old-fashioned way, from the dike you have a beautiful view of the flowery grasslands and fruit orchards on the banks. When you walk back into the village, look to the left and to the right when crossing the Voorstraat: it enjoys a protected village view. A wonderful historical atmosphere!
