Description
You can take a tour through the vast landscape around the Zeeland-Flemish Aardenburg. You pass through towns such as Oostburg and the Flemish Middelburg.
Lock
You start this route just outside the fortress of Sluis. You cycle your legs in a landscape of vast meadows, fields and rows of trees. You drive on roads with hardly any traffic. After a while you cycle through Middelburg-in-Flanders. You can get off at the Bladelin Visitor Center to learn more about the rich history of this village, highly recommended! At Artisan Restaurant-Lunch-Tearoom you are welcome for a delicious meal.
Big Hole
It is easy to travel for miles along the leafy Leopold Canal. This waterway was completed in 1854 and mainly serves as drainage for the surrounding polders. You cross the border again, after which you continue through the polder land. Just before Oostburg you drive past the Groote Gat: a creek that was once part of a larger creek system that was connected to Het Zwin. You drive back to Sluis via cozy Oostburg.
