Cycling through IJzendijke and East Flanders

In the Zeeland-Flemish border area you can once again enjoy the characteristic landscape at your leisure. You drive on car-free roads through a region where conviviality and good food are of paramount importance.

Boundary marker
At De Gentsche Poort you first enjoy a coffee and something tasty, so that you get on your bike with enough energy. First you drive into the polder. Let your legs loosen while you enjoy panoramic views over the meadows. Between junctions 48 and 89 you drive close to the border between the Netherlands and Belgium. On the left of the road you will see a number of border posts. Also cross the Isabella Canal from 1920.

IJzendijke
You pass through Boekhoute, a characteristic Flemish village. Around the Holy Cross Church you drive across a square with a nice atmosphere. You will see some beautiful old buildings here. Then you cycle through the polders again. It is wonderfully quiet here, you can relax here and get a breath of fresh air. Ideal for a day of relaxation. In IJzendijke you drive through the historic Market. In this village you can visit Museum Het Bolwerk, where you will learn more about the State-Spanish lines.
