Almere and the Oostvaardersplassen

Discover green Flevoland and cycle along the various beautiful nature reserves. This route from the overnight stay location Parceel P in Lelystad also includes a part of Almere with its modern architecture and the view of Fort Island Pampus and the Amsterdam skyline.

Various cozy dining options are within walking and cycling distance. The Werkeiland is the place from which Flevoland emerged. In the evening you can take an informative walking route past the old infirmary, the Wortman pumping station, and the first tree of Flevoland. But first it's time to cycle on the Oostvaardersdijk. Get a breath of fresh air, while looking out to the right over the rippling Markermeer. A little later on the left you have a beautiful view over the rugged Oostvaardersplassen.

Almere
Further on, on the edge of Almere, are the Lepelaarplassen, another beautiful unspoilt nature reserve with an information center. In addition to lakes, there are also beautiful wooded nature reserves around Almere. For example, from junction 25 near Almere you cycle along the edge of the Kromslootpark. The Gooimeer is on the right. Furthermore, you drive through the center of Almere, a new metropolis with lots of water and greenery, while enjoying the modern open atmosphere. Finally, you drive through the Kotterbos and straight through the Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve. From one of the bird watching huts signposted along the way you may be able to spot a white-tailed eagle or the wild herd of konik horses.
