Cycling route northern Veluwe

From the edge of Harderwijk you can drive straight into the Veluwe. Enjoy a day of driving through vast forests and heathlands, which will give you a wonderful recovery!

Elspeetse Heide
At La Famiglia restaurant you can enjoy a coffee with something tasty, so that you get on the saddle with enough energy. In the Leuvenumse Bos you immediately experience that characteristic silence of the Veluwe. This immediately gives you energy, cycling almost seems to happen automatically. Just above the hamlet of Leuvenum you drive through an agricultural enclave of fields and hedgerows. Further on, the landscape suddenly opens up when you cycle across the Elspeetse Heide.

Beekhuizer sand
You pass through Vierhouten, another agricultural enclave located in the middle of the woods. Just before junction 40 you cycle past the Veluwe transferium. Here is a thirty-meter high lookout tower for an unparalleled panorama over the forests! Nunspeet is a village where many painters settled at the end of the nineteenth century to capture farm life. Especially on sunny days, the dried-out, almost golden sandy landscape of the Beekhuizerzand seems to be on another planet.
