Harderwijk, Zeewolde and the Flevopolder

Harderwijk is a beautiful Hanseatic town on the Wolderwijd. You will also pass through Zeewolde and enjoy the silence in the Flevopolder.

Harder pants
The route starts at the edge of the Hoge Vaartbos. On the Knardijk you drive along the rippling water of the Wolderwijd. On the left you look out over the Harderbroek. Extensive reed beds, rugged marshes, grasslands and pristine primeval forest alternate in this nature reserve. In the spring, the many flowering plants lay a carpet of flowers over the area. A white-tailed eagle regularly comes to forage, you might spot it!

Flevoland
Harderwijk once lay on the turbulent Zuiderzee. Those were the days when Harderwijk benefited from the trade brought by the Hanseatic League. In the city center you will find some historic buildings from that period. And of course plenty of fun. Just before Ermelo you can get off at't Zomernest for a refreshing stopover before taking the bicycle ferry to Zeewolde. In the polders you can enjoy the characteristic wide landscape of Flevoland laid out in straight plots.
