Dancing trees on the Veluwe

The route starts at the edge of the Elspeetse Heide. From the saddle you have a beautiful view over this open area. In the Leuvenumse Bos you experience the characteristic silence of the Veluwe. Just above Leuvenum you drive through an agricultural enclave of fields, hedgerows and old farms. Then you dive back into the fresh-smelling woods. You can get off at't Zomernest for a refreshing stopover. Replenish your energy supply and cycle via Ermelo through the Sprielder and Speulderbos: two of the oldest and most beautiful forests in the Netherlands. Here you will find trees with winding trunks, when it is foggy they seem to dance. You pass Drie, a centuries-old hamlet, after which you drive across the Houtdorperveld. You drive back to the starting point via picturesque Elspeet.
