Peace and varied nature can be found in abundance in the IJssel valley. In the historical city centres of Deventer and Zutphen you can sniff up a lot of cultural history.
Nijenbeek Castle
After a visit to the cozy terrace at De Kribbe. eat. drink. enjoy. you immediately drive through the old farmland of the Wilpse Klei. A beautiful floodplain landscape where old farms are located on mounds. Soon you pass Kasteel Nijenbeek. This intact ruin is rare in the Netherlands.
The best preserved old city centres of the Netherlands can be found in the Hanseatic city of Zutphen. Enjoy the unique historical atmosphere!
Deventer
It is wonderful to cycle on the car-free roads through the forests and farmlands in the outskirts of Gorssel. In this sparsely populated area you can make nice kilometers. Before you cross the IJssel, enjoy the beautiful view. You will see, among other things, the tower of the Lebuinus church and further on the Bolwerksmolen, a sawmill from 1863.
