Description

No matter how small the village of Eijsden is, you will find plenty of cultural history. And of course the easy-going Limburg way of life. Put on your walking shoes for a lovely walk.

Family Museum
you look out over the centuries-old Sint-Martinuskerk. It has been renovated several times over the past centuries, the history of this church goes back to no less than 1200. Further on you pass the former Ursuline monastery from 1899. Nowadays, this building houses the Family Museum and the Culinary Historical Centre for South Limburg.

Eijsden Castle
On the path along the Maas you can blow away the cobwebs, while you look at the rippling water and the boats. On the other side lies the Belgian Lanaye. Further on you walk through the park of Kasteel Eijsden, a pleasure garden from 1636. In 1672 stadtholder Willem III of Orange established his headquarters in the castle in the battle against the French who attacked Maastricht. At the beginning of the driveway there is a chapel surrounded by stately trees: a picture!

Tour tip; Hiking with kids! Routes up to 5 km are ideal
