Description
A walk through a history book, this route through and around Wageningen. You will discover the Grebbesluis, old and new neighborhoods in Wageningen and beautiful farms in the wonderfully green polder.
Grebbe lock
You first follow the IJssel to the west. Further on you will pass the Grebbesluis and the associated eighteenth-century earthen defenses. As you walk along the Valley Canal, you can enjoy the views over the grasslands a little later. The canal here forms the border between Utrecht and Gelderland. A picnic area invites you to enjoy the tranquility here.
Skyline
A short cut brings you to the Haarweg. You are still in the middle of the polder here, surrounded by farms, but the skyline of Wageningen is getting closer with every step. You can walk into the city through the new residential area of Kortenoord. The further you walk, the older the houses become - on Duivendaal you will see beautiful nineteenth-century buildings.
