Description
With this route you will make a tour through touristic Netherlands at its best! From Purmerend you cycle to the Purmerbos, a relatively young nature reserve. Monnickendam is rich in monumental gems with stepped, bell or pointed gables. Then you cycle over the Waterlandse Zeedijk, which was already constructed in the Middle Ages! You will arrive at the island of Marken, which enjoys a protected cityscape in its entirety. Get off for a moment to enjoy the unique atmosphere. With a ferry you sail across the Gouwzee to the port of Volendam. After a visit to the old Edam you cycle through the vast Dutch lowlands. Enjoy the fresh air and the peace and quiet, before you get off again in Purmerend.
