In Friesland you walk through an open landscape of meadows and lakes. Ideal for a day out.

dorismoltsje
You start the route at an idyllic spot on the Oudegaasterbroeken. Here you will find the Dorismooltsje from 1790: the oldest spider-head mill in Friesland. On the path you walk through the untouched and water-rich environment. You then walk on car-free roads through a landscape of vast meadows, ditches and canals. Every now and then you see a farm in the shade of a few trees. How quiet it is here!

Frisian churches
In the village of Greonterp you can see some beautiful old buildings and a clock house from the early nineteenth century. The house at Doarpswei 16 was occupied by the writer Gerard Reve from 1964-1971. In Blauwhuis you can view the beautiful St. Vitus Church from 1871, on the edge of Westhem is the beautiful Bartholomew Church. You walk back to the starting point along the Rietmeer.
