Description
Lelystad is a beautiful green city, best explored from the saddle. In the countryside you cycle past lakes and vast polders.
Batavia wharf
First you drive through Lelystad, a city that is surprisingly rich in nature. At the harbor you will pass the Bataviawerf. Here you can admire a replica of the Batavia, the famous seventeenth-century ship. The Seven Provinces are also being recreated here. At the shipyard you will also learn more about historic wooden shipbuilding.
Ketelmeer
Outside the city you cycle a long way along the banks of the IJsselmeer. A century ago, ships sailed on the Zuiderzee at this location. Now you can get a breath of fresh air and enjoy the peace and quiet and the panoramic view. From junction 11 you drive along the Ketelmeer, on the other side you will see the Noordoostpolder. You drive through the vast polder to the village of Swifterbant.
