Description
Nisse, Baarland, Ellewoutsdijk
Nisse is known as one of the most beautiful villages in South Beveland. It is not difficult to find, because the church tower from the 14th century can be seen for miles around. The church itself is also worth a visit because of the frescoes from the 15th century. Behind the church of Baarland is the coach house of Slot Baarland. Together with the moat and the walls, the last remains of this proud castle. Just outside Baarlo are the foundations of another castle, Hellenburg. The small village of Ellewoutsdijk is in possession of Fort Ellewoutsdijk from 1837, built for the defense of the Scheldt.
