Description

This cycle route takes you along the dikes of the old Zeevang and Beemster area. Along the way you can enjoy historic Edam, cycle through the ribbon villages of Warder, Etersheim, Beets, Oosthuizen and Kwadijk. You can alternate this route with stops at Fort Edam, the dike along the Markermeer,'t Schooltje van Dik Trom and Visitor Center De Breek. 
The Schooltje van Dik Trom has been restored to its original state with school desks from the past, clogs under the coat rack, dip pens, inkwells and much more. And don't forget to take a break with freshly baked apple pie at Visitor Center De Breek. The forts along the way are part of the Defense Line of Amsterdam and are therefore Unesco World Heritage. Fort near Edam is regularly open for visitors. Here you can see how the soldiers lived when the forts were manned.
