Description

Discover Westland grape cultivation during this cycle route along historic grape greenhouses in Westland. Taste the Westland table grape in between!*
*only during the grape season from July to November/October.

Start at a TOP
The cycle route starts at TOP Wateringen, but can also be started at TOP Westland. Here you can park your car for free and follow the junction network.

Grape nursery Nieuw Tuinzight
From TOP Wateringen you first cycle past this biodynamic grape nursery. Authentic grape varieties are grown in Arnoud and Hilde's 14 grape greenhouses. They let nature determine the rhythm: the more sunshine, the faster the grapes can be harvested. In the grape shop you can buy and taste grapes, grape juices and more every working day and Saturday in mid-August.

Historic Sonnehoeck grape nursery
The route then goes past't Woudt towards Kwintsheul. Just outside the village is the Sonnehoeck grape nursery: the only nursery with national monument status. The grape nursery has eight original grape greenhouses, the oldest of which dates from 1905. Grapes are still grown here in the traditional way. Visitors can buy and taste grapes every Saturday from mid-July to mid-October.

Westlands Museum
After a beautiful route along the renovated Poelzone you arrive in the village of Naaldwijk. You can have a delicious lunch or coffee on the renovated Wilhelminaplein. The route then continues towards the Westlands Museum. Not only grapes are grown in the historic garden , but also other (forgotten) Westland vegetables. Regional products are for sale in the shop. Because these are regional products, the offer may differ per week.

Back to start
From the Westlands Museum you cycle past the greenhouses back to the starting point. We hope you experience it as a beautiful route!

Picnic areas
During the bike ride you will pass beautiful locations to enjoy the grapes. There are picnic benches along the coast, in the Poelzone, in the heart of Naaldwijk, in the Zwetzone or perhaps you can find a beautiful location yourself.

Have fun!
*all locations are open on Saturdays only.
