Cycling through the woods around Odoorn

Klijndijk is an ideal base for discovering a number of nature reserves in Drenthe by bicycle. First you drive to Boswachterij Sleenerzand. The path through the trees seems to go on and on, it's not hard to lose your sense of time here. Step off to enjoy the silence. At node 59 is the Zevenmarkensteen, which marks the point where seven boermarken used to come together. The original stone has disappeared, but a modern version was replaced in 2004. Further on you drive through the woods again, after which you end up in Odoorn. Here you can see the Margaret Church, whose choir dates back to the twelfth century. Via the picturesque Weerdinge and the Valtherbos you cycle back to Buffet restaurant Thijs en Aafke.
