Description

The Krimpenerwaard is a beautiful wide area, ideal for exploring on foot. Along the way you not only enjoy the natural beauty, but also the historic buildings.

Den Arend
Your first point of interest is also located here: Den Arend, a beautiful flour mill from 1869. In the outlying area you can walk along grassy meadows that are intersected by many straight ditches. Along the way are some beautiful old farms. You can also see the Zuidbroekse Molen: an American wind engine from 1922 that drains the area.

Schuurkerk
After a while, the vast landscape gives way to the Loetbos. Native trees such as willows, alders and poplars grow here: species that feel at home in this low moor area. In Berkenwoude you can take a look at the old barn church that stands next to the Reformed Church. Just after junction 49 you walk on an unpaved path along the vliet. Make sure you have waterproof shoes so that you can get a breath of fresh air in this quiet area.
