Beek and Brink route - Drenthe

This route introduces you to one of the most varied landscapes in the north: with stream valleys and typical old Drenthe green villages, such as Ruinen, Dwingeloo, Diever and Havelte. In these ash or green villages, the farms are built close to the green, where the roads converged. The fields (essen) were on the higher grounds outside the villages, the meadows and hay meadows were lower, in the stream valley.
