From Hotel Meyer through Alkmaar and the Schoorlse Duinen

Nature and culture go hand in hand on this tour. You can experience plenty of history in Alkmaar and Bergen. The fresh air is provided by the beautiful forests in the Schoorlse Duinen and by the westerly wind on the North Sea coast.

Cheese city
The route starts at Hotel Meyer in the middle of Bergen aan Zee, a picturesque and pleasant seaside resort. You will see some characteristic villas here. You will also pass the Parnassia Park, a beautiful native garden where more than 200 plant species grow. So worth a visit. Then you drive through the rolling dunes and polders just outside Alkmaar. You can easily taste the historic atmosphere in the old heart of the cheese city. Here you will see, among other things, the flour mill't Roode Hert.

To put away
You will also find a rich cultural history in the artist village of Bergen. You will see many villas there. The area around the fifteenth-century ruined church enjoys a protected village view, you will experience a wonderful atmosphere here. The local nature has even more in store for you: you drive through the Schoorlse Duinen. After disembarking you can enjoy the surf in Bergen aan Zee or enjoy a drink on the terrace at Hotel Meyer.
