From Hotel Meyer through Alkmaar and the Schoorlse Dunes

Nature and culture go hand in hand with this tour. You will sniff up plenty of history in Alkmaar and Bergen. The fresh air is provided by the beautiful forests in the Schoorlse Duinen and by the westerly wind on the North Sea coast.

Cheese Town
The route starts at Hotel Meyer in the middle of Bergen aan Zee, a picturesque and pleasant seaside resort. You will see some characteristic villas here. You will also pass the Parnassiapark, a beautiful native garden where more than 200 plant species grow. Definitely worth a visit. Then you drive through the rolling dunes and the polders just outside Alkmaar. In the old heart of the cheese city you can easily taste the historical atmosphere. Here you will see, among other things, the corn mill 't Roode Hert.

To put away
In the artists' village of Bergen you will also find a rich cultural history. You will see many villas. The area around the fifteenth-century Ruïnekerk enjoys a protected village view, you will experience a wonderful atmosphere here. The local nature has even more in store for you: you will ride through the Schoorlse Duinen. After getting off you can enjoy the surf in Bergen aan Zee or enjoy a drink on the terrace at Hotel Meyer.
