Oldambt
The gentlemen will leave again at half past four on Wednesday, June 25. They soon reach Farmsum, then walk into Oldambt. They walk past beautiful fields and farms. At that time, Lake Huninga was still located here: a 450 hectare lake that was drained in 1848, after which farmers grew grain and rapeseed. In 2005, the area was flooded again during the construction of the Oldambtmeer. The former Huninga Lake is the deepest part of this new lake.

Dogs
What is striking is that Van Lennep does not write anything about'highway robbers\\\'. Marita Mathijsen says in the sixth radio episode that they probably did not walk around with large amounts of cash, but used bills of exchange to withdraw small sums of money from banks. The greatest danger comes from... dogs! In Friesland, travelers have already had to flee several times from biting four-legged friends. The next day the companions walk along the canal to Winschoten. Halfway through they pause at an inn to assist a woman with her toilet. Van Lennep calls her one of the most beautiful women he has ever seen: "Her appearance was that of Juno, her arms, hands and feet those of Venus, her bosom those of Diana, her movements those of the Graces." \\"The company then disappoints in rainy Winschoten.
