You can see a mill in the middle of the department stores. Popularly, this mill is called the 'mill van Knijff', because the Van der Knijff family supplied the millers for generations. The windmill was built in 1580-1584 to drain the polder. In the Second World War, the Germans used the mill to charge their batteries. Because the surrounding department stores became higher in the 1980s, it was also necessary to raise the mill. A 5.60 m high concrete base was built and the mill was placed on top of it. The upper barber - that is to say that the miller can turn the hood on the wind - thus became a tower mill.
