Description
From winter guests flying over to the many historical traces in Katwijk aan Zee, at the highest points of this ranger path in Hollands Duin you have a good view of nature and culture. Walk through the former potato fields, discover the old water tower and visit the wild swans in the lake.
Highlights
- Around the former arable lands you can see the large rattlesnake and dogwort in bloom in the spring.
- From the Vlaggenduin lookout tower you can look out over the old water tower, the white church of Katwijk, the Sufi temple and the monumental German bunker.
- There is a bird screen at the infiltration lake where you can look out for water birds.
- You can no longer see the old shooting range (not open to the public), but if you are lucky you will see a deer.
The walk is along a shell path and a small section of sand path. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash between March 15 and August 15 due to the breeding season. The route is not suitable for disabled people.
