A day out in South Beveland

In Zuid-Beveland it is wonderfully quiet cycling. This route leads you along the banks of the Oosterschelde and through the vast polders with their long rows of trees and quickly drifting clouds.

Eastern Scheldt
You start this route at the Goese Meer. This lake was constructed at the end of the twentieth century and is surrounded by houses and a golf course. Along the harbour canal you drive to the Oosterschelde. On the bank you can sit down in the grass of the dike for a while to enjoy the view. On the horizon you see Tholen. Further on you drive through the pleasant harbour of Wemeldinge.

Yerseke Moer
After crossing the Canal through Zuid-Beveland, you cycle through the Yerseke Moer. This old land forms one of the last pieces of authentic Zeeland polder landscape. You cross the canal again, around Kapelle you then cycle past orchards and wide fields. Via the hamlet of Tervaten you cycle back to the starting point.
