The Nordseeküsten-Radweg is a fairly new long-distance cycle route of over 550 kilometers. This route takes you through no fewer than six German states along the North Sea coast. You cycle from Hamburg all the way to the border of Lower Saxony with Groningen. A route for the avid cyclist who does not shy away from a long multi-day tour.<b>Seaside resorts and port cities</b>The starting point of this route is at Finkenwerder, a former island in the Elbe that is now part of the city of Hamburg. From here you cycle along the course of the Elbe to the North Sea. On the rest of the route you can get a breath of fresh air along the North Sea coast. You cycle through beautiful, quiet nature reserves and through various seaside resorts and port cities. How about Bremerhaven, for example, where you can visit the German Maritime Museum? You can make a stopover on the beach in the seaside resorts of Wremen, Dorum and on the beach at the Dorumer Diep.<b>The Wadden Sea as a World Heritage Site</b>On the last part of the route you cycle along the Lower Saxony National Park Wadden Sea. This park has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2009. You end your trip just across the border in the Dutch village of Bad Nieuweschans.<b>Jever Castle</b>Jever Castle is a true gem on this route. This castle dates from the 14th century, although it has been renovated several times over the centuries. For example, the castle's imposing tower was built during the 15th and 16th centuries.
