Ravenstein and Maas walking route

You can take a nice walk in the polders along the Brabantse Maas. You then walk across the Maasdijk to the historic heart of Ravenstein.

Saint Roch
You soon pass through Deursen and Dennenburg, two picturesque villages where you see some beautiful farms. The St. Rochus Chapel dates from 1745. You then walk along car-free dikes through the polders. Through the trees you look out over grasslands and fields. Get some fresh air and clear your head. In Dieden you pass the Stella Polaris, or North Star: a flour mill from 1865.

Mid-range
It is beautiful to walk along the Maas, while looking out over the rippling water and the slowly moving ships. You walk through the Middelwaard, an unspoilt nature reserve. In Ravenstein you will pass the Kasteelsepoort, the only remnant of the medieval Ravenstein Castle, which was demolished in 1818. In Sint-Luciastraat you will see many monuments, such as the Sint-Lucia Church from 1735: it was built with the proceeds from a lottery.
